Bug ID: 170300
Summary: libreoffice website: broken link
Product: QA Tools
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: General
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
I was unclear where to report documentation/website issues with LO, so trying
here.
I note that on the page:
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/install-howto/
if I click 'SNAP', I get taken to
https://skyfromme.wordpress.com/2016/06/14/libreoffice-5-2-0-beta2-as-a-snap-package/
which contains text:
"skyfromme.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.
WordPress.com
"
By the way, it would be quite helpful to list for example the Ubuntu
LibreOffice PA as another option. Noting that using the distro packages as
recommended will typically lead a user to running a version for which bug
reports will not readily be accepted without further testing, I feel that there
should be a note on the following page about what the other options are (would
lead to them to snap, PPA and other options, I guess)
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/install-howto/linux/
Also a comment on this page:
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/install-howto/
-- it's not immediately visually obvious that the 'portable' option applies
only to Windows, and that the Snap version applies only to GNU/Linux. Suggest a
reorg of this page to make it more accessible to a wide group of less techie
users.
