After removing the product entry from the registry that remained from the
previous installation, I managed to install the new version and LibreOffice is
working again.

I think this is related to the automatic update, which does not work as it
should. The product is uninstalled, but not completely, and the subsequent
installation of the new version encounters remnants of the previous version in
the registry, resulting in a faulty installation.
