Bug ID: 170634
Summary: Font ligatures insert incorrect characters
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.0.3 release
Hardware: All
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When rendering a variable style font like Noto Serif, LO Writer shows a
different character. E.g. a "ꝗ" instead of a ligaturized "fi".
Probably due to the way LibreOffice calls those glyphs when displaying
on-the-fly ligatures, and HarfBuzz or Skia related.
Installing a static (non variable) version of the font as a workaround is not
an option for Mac users, as this triggers bad rendering in Keynote and other
Mac programs.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a document with the Noto Serif variable font
Actual Results:
Ligatured characters display incorrectly. E.g. a "ꝗ" instead of a ligaturized
"fi".
Expected Results:
Ligatured characters display correctly
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
