You are mistaken.
D means "the value is a *date* (i.e., number of days since 1899-12-30); show
the day of that date".

I.e., in C84, you have 4.9375. When considered date, it's "four and something
after 1899-12-30", which means "1900-01-03 plus 0.9375 of a day (i.e., 22:30 of
that date)". When you ask the D of that date, it takes the "third" of January,
and shows you.

This is not a bug.
