Bug ID: 170871
Summary: Libre Office file permission issues
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.0.3 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Newest download of Libreoffice avaialable on libreoffice.org website today
2026/02/17 8:59a.m. EST does not permit me to save my own files under same
name, wants to force me to change the name. Acts as though I do not have
permission to change my own files. Opens as read only, makes me choose to edit.
Keeps the liteel "lock" files open after closing file. Even after deleting
these, running CCleaner, restarting computer, stills behaves same manner.
Windows 11 Pro Lenovo 7AMD laptop. Thank you for your software, truly, and God
bless you all. You are so loved. God knows who you are. He loves you and is
with you. May He bless you abundantly and protect you all fiercely!
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open your desired Libre Office spreadsheet or writer file (we only use these
2 so cannot speak to other apps.)
2.Makes you choose to edit it at top, which should not since it's your own file
created by you and you are administator of your laptop and the server on which
it resides.
3.Once you change it and go to save, choose to overwrite same file and it will
tell you no, choose another name.
Actual Results:
1.Open your desired Libre Office spreadsheet or writer file (we only use these
2 so cannot speak to other apps.)
2.Makes you choose to edit it at top, which should not since it's your own file
created by you and you are administator of your laptop and the server on which
it resides.
3.Once you change it and go to save, choose to overwrite same file and it will
tell you no, choose another name.
Expected Results:
IT is clear - it should not make you choose to edit your own files and it
should not leave the lock files open after you close, and it should not force
you to change the names of your files you are editing.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
:)
Don't know what you mean by corrupted user profile. All other programs do not
have this problem, only Libre Office after it updated.
