Bug ID: 170934
Summary: Better version information for command line and
headless mode
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When using headless mode and/or when GUI is disabled, there is no GUI to
provide version information in "Help > About LibreOffice".
Currently, the version information provided in command line is limited. For
example:
$ instdir/program/soffice --version
LibreOfficeDev 26.8.0.0.alpha0 1d9b441da84168e46c56ea40a4b6bb9650008c42
That is too little for debugging. Compared to GUI, which provides better
details:
Version: 26.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64)
Build ID: 1d9b441da84168e46c56ea40a4b6bb9650008c42
CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 6.19; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded
The suggestion here is to provide comparable information from GUI (Help > About
LibreOffice), with a new command line option. Except "UI render", other details
can also be provided in command line. Even for the "UI render", possible
options can be listed.
This feature is helpful when no GUI is available, or when a bug prevents GUI
display. For example, see this bug report:
