Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67384
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: Insert Image via URL
Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.1.0.4 release
Component: Presentation
Product: LibreOffice
A handy and popular feature in MS Powerpoint in Windows is the ability to
insert an image via a filename typed or pasted into the chooser box; the
filename chooser box also allows one to use a URL in which case the application
pulls down the image and inserts it into the presentation.
The chooser box on the Mac version of LibreOffice appears to have no place to
paste or type an image URL. The Linux version appears to have a button to
allow "type a file name" but this is not present on the Mac. I have not
checked on Windows yet.
So, would like the ability to customize the file chooser box to allow typing of
a path and filename, and would like that to work with a URL as well.
See http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/19335/insert-picture-via-url-on-mac/
for some more info.
BTW, Copying and Pasting of the image from a browser directly into Impress does
work as a workaround, but the URL option avoids having to use the clipboard at
all.
