Click on the first cell of the row where you want the formatting pasted (the cell of the destination row that is located in column A). If you want more than one adjacent row, then you click-and-hold on the first column of the first destination row, and drag through column A of the rows that you want the format to be pasted on. For rows that are not adjacent, the usual double-click on the clone icon also works, then click on each of the first cell of each destination row.
