The intermediary "pause" on the page indicator makes it clear during search exactly where the matches thusfar have been found. When you land on the "page separator" you are signaled that you have exhausted all the matches for a specific page. Sorry, but I find that a very useful design and implementation. Also, unlike Eyal--I am able to mouse click on the "page separator" to refocus the result navigation to matches on that specific page.
