Suggestion additional text for this help page:
If you only need to display a string showing the day of the week, also consider
using the date formatting options.
EG: When using Calc and for a cell containing a date value,
from the menu: Format > Cells > Date
Then use a custom format of DDD to show the day of the week in the style of
"FRI" or use DDDD to show the day of the week in the style of "Friday"
