LibreOffice 3.3, Java 6, LanguageTool 2.1 51MB - Start-Center opened/closed, Quickstarter still running 130MB - Big Document open and Quickstarter Running 104MB - Big Document closed, Quickstarter still running You clearly see, that even back than, LibreOffice not freed all the RAM when the document was closed, even though the total numbers was of course a lot less back than, as it was 32Bit and LanguageTool was by far not as memory-intense as it is today.
