In the tabbed view there are approximately three different ways to close a
document. I think it would be a good idea if we could agree on one
implementation and remove the others.
This should in theory make the UI "cleaner" and if implemented correctly make
LibreOffice more intuitive to use.
I was unable to see a difference presented in the options in the tab "File" and
in the dropdown "File". Therefor I think it would make sense to replace the tab
"File" with a dropdown. This would not only remove a lot of duplicate options
but would also make the layout similar to alternative word processors. For the
exact same reason I would also create a tab called "Help" which would also act
as a dropdown.
In an effort to visualise my idea, knowing that some may not like the
comparison, I also added a screenshot of MS Word for Web (see image
"Screenshot-MS-Word.png").
Steps to Reproduce:
Here are the three ways I found to close a document:
1. Go to the "File" tab and click on the "x" (see image "close-document-1.png")
2. Press the menu and then close (see image "close-document-2.png")
3. Go to the "File" tab, click on the "File" dropdown and click "Close" (see
image close-document-3.png")
Actual Results:
When trying to close the current document there are approximately three
different ways to close it.
Expected Results:
When trying to close a document there is a single option in the "File"
dropdown.
