Well it is a bug int he sense that it shouldn't do it. There is no way that it
should be necessary to select a style to make a list work properly, certainly
not when starting with the default styles,  as any 'newbe' would be, so I
disagree. This is a bug unless the program alerts you to the issue; that would
be another solution. For this to happen for no apparent reason is a bug;
perhaps not in a coding sense but in a design sense. It should not be necessary
to change from the default style in order to use a list. As this can be fixed I
don't see why it shouldn't be really.

Word does not do this as far as I know. I've never seen this in decades of
word. Thanks for looking, but I don't agree with your view of this; this is
claiming you need to be relatively expert in order to use a simple list, like
insisting on knowing minutiae of ctl shift esc C etc.. as in days gone by;
surely we have gone past that...
