This is a feature of the font. Find in this document "thousand":
https://numbertext.org/linux/fontfeatures.pdf

To turn it off, go into the Font Effects in your paragraph style or in direct
character formatting. Next to the Language dropdown, click the Features button.
A huge array of features will be displayed. Scroll to the bottom. You will see
a dropdown labeled 'thou' Thousand separation. Click the dropdown and select
None.
