--- Comment #6 from Eyal Rozenberg <[email protected]> --- Even though this has been marked a dupe of the more general issue, let me address some of the comments: (In reply to Roman Kuznetsov from comment #3) > Calc isn't a text editor * Calc is a spreadsheet editor; spreadsheets have cells; and cells have text. Therefore, Calc _is_ a text editor, even if it's not focused on text editing. A bit like Impress or Draw. * The ODS format supports paragraphs within table cells. And, in fact, Calc itself supports and introduces paragraphs within table cells. And - paragraphs admit paragraph styles. Therefore, it is reasonable and legitimate for a user to to want to apply different paragraph styles within Calc. If we had decided to forbid paragraphs within cells, that would have been a different matter. (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #4) > Cell styles (limited to base text styling with additional DF as applied) > suffice for an ODF spreadsheet. First, see my comment to Roman. Second - your very note that paragraph DF may be necessary indicates that named styles are also necessary. And - we can't even DF paragraphs properly in Calc: If one sets the alignment, it applies to the whole cell rather than the current paragraph. Also, remember that the ODF TC decided - and we have approved - that Calc table cells can be multi-paragraph. Once that decision is made, we (= LO Calc) should follow through with it, allowing the proper styling of the elements we support. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
