Well, we already have the toggle, except that it's only in the Format >
Paragraph...  and named PS editing dialogs, only, rather than also being
available separately.

There's actually a lot:

* Anything which performs actions automatically is inherently somewhat
surprising and potentially confusing/offputting. This is (partly) why our
AutoFormat and AutoCorrect are filled with toggles up to the wazoo.
* Automatic direction setting can get it wrong - the heuristic is very
simplistic and goes by the first character.
* If you've set the direction manually already, before, you may want to avoid
it getting messed up for a little while while you're doing something you feel
is sensitive.

Yes, the dialog offers this toggle. But it should also be possible to have that
as a command. I didn't say it should be on the formatting toolbar by default or
anything, but it should exist. I would probably add this button to my toolbar.
