Bug ID: 171656
Summary: UI: a filter for applied (paragraph) styles with
hierarchy in sidebar
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.8.0.0 alpha0+ master
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
UI: a filter for applied (paragraph) styles with hierarchy in sidebar
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Writer
2. Insert a line of text with say Paragraph Style: Heading 1
3. Enable Sidebar -> Styles Deck -> Applied Styles
Actual Results:
The applied styles feels incomplete. It literally shows the applied styles. In
principle OK. However I personally find it unusable, because I lack information
if the style being derived from a parent.
And the parent style is effectively part of the child style (indirectly
'applied')
So in my world I would - with some existing document with formatting - mostly
rely on applied (paragraph) styles with hierarchy (if existing). It's likely
that I want to keep using the existing styles.
With the advantage of not being spammed with all sorts of styles not in use
(contextual redundant stuff). So it's quite lovely to have 'trimmed down'
variant.
Somewhat inspired by bug 171638
Expected Results:
Add another filter option to the list. Or some checkbox (next to 'spotlight')
with sometime like: with hierarchy. Although it the latter case, this means it
checkbox needs to be disabled for certain combinations. So hierarchical hasn't
any value.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
