Video showing the feature
Esperanto has the special letters ĉ ĝ ĥ ĵ ŝ and ŭ. Seeing as there is no
standardised keyboard layout to be able to type these, people have to go
through a few hoops to make it possible, such as installing special software or
configuring a custom keyboard layout. For people who are less technically
confident or who don’t have administrator rights on the computer they’re using
this can be quite difficult. A very popular alternative for people in this
situation is to type x’s instead of the circumflexes such as “sxangxigxi”
instead of “ŝanĝiĝi” because the letter x isn’t used in Esperanto. It could be
nice if LibreOffice’s AutoCorrect automatically fixed these words and replaced
them with the circumflex version. It wouldn’t be practical to do this with a
word list because there would be an excessive amount of words. For example
pretty much any verb can take the “-iĝ” suffix.
