Bug ID: 172077
Summary: enhancement: Cleaning up the document / clearing
direct formatting -- intelligent response
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.8.0.0 alpha0+ master
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]

hi,
Cleaning up the document is a key thing, without doubt.
The "clear direct formatting" works very well!!
But it could be improved.
Moreover, if it gets improved, it will be a super-useful, universally used
functionality (as I far as I can see :))
What we miss is indication of what has happened (as we pressed clear direct
formatting).
....
An intelligent response could be:
Do not indicate "document has changed" (there are unsaved changes) when nothing
has happened.
(That icon shouldn't turn red.)
....
NOTE:
....
In my Writer instance, on a linux mint machine, when I press clear direct
formatting, one of the following two things happen:
1. A blink - the text disappears for a millisecond, as if it was reorganized.
2. The text remains steady, no blink, not even for a micro second :)
This tells me that this functionality almost works already :)
At least, I can use this "response"...
a blink meaning, "done!"
motionlessness meaning: "nothing to do"
:)
Peter
