Tables showing monthly and annual fixed household expenses for 2026. Essential
for me.
Windows 10 64 bits.
Since Friday, May 8, 2026, LibreOffice Calc has been unable to open or save any
files (same issue with Write), even on the desktop. Error messages are
attached.
Attempts to find a solution have yielded no results:
- Check that the file is not read-only
- Checking the Windows security properties of folders and files.
- Check that there are no conflicts with Malwarebytes antivirus.
- Create a new folder on the PC and manually copy all the files into it. Delete
the old folder. Check the security settings of the new folder—no changes.
- File path validation:
The folder containing these files does not contain any special characters or
long paths.
- Unable to perform a save test on the desktop; see the attached error message.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the LibreOffice application three times - No
change
Important note:
For a few minutes after the last reinstallation, I was able to create a new
.calc file, open it, edit it, and save it to the desktop. Then the problem
returned, and it has been frozen ever since.
- Check the temporary lock file created by LibreOffice: .~lock
This file does not appear anywhere, even with Windows hidden files turned off.
- Checking the contents of the .ods file:
When renaming the file to .zip, the content.xml file inside is empty or is 1 KB
in size, even though the file is 45.9 KB.
This suggests that LibreOffice is no longer writing data when saving.
Additional information:
I had help with all these checks because I wouldn’t have been able to do them
on my own.
Also, my files are very important because the one I’m sending you contains all
my annual family expenses, among other things.
I’ve been using LibreOffice for years and have never encountered this problem
before. Latest update?!?
