Bug ID: 172116
Summary: "update_service.exe" disappears after reboot
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Installation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
I had installed "LibreOffice_26.2.2_Win_x86-64.msi" before, which recently
reported an update.
The updater started but did not do anything and finished without error - the
next day the same update was reported.
In the windows event log I found a message:
Der Dienst "LibreOffice Maintenance Service" wurde aufgrund folgenden Fehlers
nicht gestartet:
Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden.
This translates to "The service LibreOffice Maintenance Service could not be
started: the system could not find the file specified".
This is true: the file "C:\Program
Files\LibreOffice\program\update_service.exe" does not exist.
(see "maintenance_service.png" - screenshot of the properties of the service)
As this might be a problem that is fixed already, I deinstalled Libre Office,
rebooted and deleted everything in "C:\Program Files\LibreOffice".
Then I installed "LibreOffice_26.2.3_Win_x86-64.msi" and verified that
"update_service.exe" is there. Another reboot - and "update_service.exe" has
disappeared.
So I assume the same problem will happen when the next LibreOffice update will
come. It even happened for the first file I opened.
Do you have any idea what makes the exe disappear?
I will post also the LibreOffice components that I installed.
Steps to Reproduce:
Install LibreOffice and reboot.
Actual Results:
"upate_service.exe" has disappeared
Expected Results:
"upate_service.exe" should be available.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
