--- Comment #9 from Robert Großkopf <[email protected]> ---
2 Hints:

1. Debian tries to use Firebird 4 since about 1 year now together with
LibreOffice. Databases, one times opened and saved in Debian, couldn't be
opened again with any LibreOffice-version packed by LibreOffice. Also some
functions doesn't work, some old databases with views won't work also…

2. Constructed a database for invoices. There are fields for quantity and
fields for price. Quantity is need for some special invoices with 4 decimal
places to calculate something like 1/3. Price is need for some special invoices
with 6 decimal places. Multiplication will set 10 decimal places. So the
resulted decimal value could only give maximum for currency with 99 999 999.99
$.
I have to limit price and quantity for not running into "integer overflow",
because Firebird 3 will allow maximum 18 digits maximum precision. Starting
with Firebird 4 there is allowed maximum 38 digits.

… and only for information: MariaDB allows 65 digits.
