That "alternative" implies that the colors used for references are probably not
seen (because in Calc, the colored references are seen on the cell, but not on
the formula bar input window).

There is already a known workaround. While editing the content of the cell, you
can temporarily change the cell's alignment. For example, if you need to see
the adjacent cells that are located to the right of the cell that is being
edited, you can align the active cell to the right (yes, while still editing
the active cell, press [CTRL]+[R]), complete whichever edition that you want,
and then restore the alignment of the active cell as it was (e.g. press
[CTRL]+[R] again), and finally accept the edition. You can even change the
alignment multiple times, to different settings, and when all is done, only
then accept the edition.

There is simply no end to the original problem, as there is always something
that will be negatively impacted, so the wise thing to do is to be flexible and
for the user to adapt each time to each case, context, circumstance.
