Bug ID: 172235
Summary: Setting to change row and column limits available
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.2.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
(I just saw something mentioned about being able to filter out cells but I do
not think this is the same thing?)
I have noticed in many of the newer version release notes of Calc, that
developers have been putting effort into making Calc faster. Not too long ago
I was finally able to update to a newer version and have noticed a significant
difference in increased performance.
Older version I was using was rather slow opening / saving / closing files, was
very difficult to use at times.
Thank you to all the developers who continue to work on this.
The faster these actions mentioned can be made to perform, can be so helpful
because they are performed constantly by most users.
While on the subject about speed/performance for actions such as opening /
saving / closing files, I was wondering if the following suggestion would in
any way improve performance?
Calc documents by default all include huge amounts for maximum rows and
columns, and when you think of it, each sheet tab within a Calc file contains
these maximum limits.
Also most users/sheets are not even close to using these amounts of rows and
columns.
I was wondering, would a setting that allows users the ability to lower these
maximum limits to a lot smaller amounts lend any improvements in performance?
Especially with actions such as opening / saving / closing files?
SUGGESTION
Suggesting to add a setting that would allow user the ability to reduce the
amount of rows and cells very small amounts.
Would be nice if there could be two settings
-One that would apply to each file separately
-Another that would be more of a global setting that could be used to apply to
all files opened in Calc.
Thank You
Actual Results:
Expected Results:
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
POSSIBLE BENEFITS
-Possible increase in performance?
-Even if this setting would not really increase performance in any noticeable
way, this could still be beneficial for things like general navigation/use.
