It looks like it’s quite easy on Ubuntu to accidentally end up using the gen
VCL plugin and then have a really ugly UI.
I wonder if we should add a warning if you start LibreOffice with the gen
backend to let users know their installation has probably gone wrong. It could
be like the non-intrusive warning you get when you open a document with macros
in it. The message could be something like this:
“You are using the gen plugin for the user interface. Please note that this
plugin is mostly intended for testing and debugging purposes. If you haven’t
chosen it intentionally then it may be an indication that your installation of
%PRODUCTNAME is not complete.”
