Although I can reproduce the steps and behavior described in comment 0, I am
not sure we need yet another report about how the icons that "increase /
decrease indent" in Calc do not work as expected when the alignment is
different than "left" (for LTR worksheets), with all sorts of unexpected
consequences.

This kind of issue is known. The typical workaround is to avoid them, and
instead use:

1. [CTRL]+[1]
2. Alignment tab.
3. Text Alignment > Horizontal > Left
4. Set the indentation to the relevant value.
5. Text Alignment > Horizontal > Right
6. OK.

Alternatively, first set the desired indentation (by whichever means you want,
including the use of the icons), and then go to the Alignment tab and change it
from Left to Right (i.e. my steps 5 and 6).

IOW, if you want to mix Right-Alignment with Indentation in Calc, I would
suggest (for practical, effective reasons) that you should rather do it
manually, until someone might eventually review the code for Indentation in
Calc.
