Bug ID: 172301
Summary: Navigator - Settings to make Navigator function like a
vertical sheet tabs sidebar
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.2.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Calc - Sidebar - Navigator
I have made many suggestion posts for the "Navigator" sidebar.
My overall idea is to add features to the "Navigator" sidebar to make it
function more like a vertical version of the sheet tabs bar at the bottom of
Calc window.
The suggestion posts I have made can all be beneficial by themselves which is
why I have made separate posts for each of them. I decided to put the rest of
my "Navigator" suggestions in this post.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUGGESTIONS
-Add ability to hide the sheet tabs bar at the bottom of Calc window (because
now user can choose to only want to see/use the "Navigator" sidebar for this
purpose.
Would also add new shortcut for this.
-Add the "Sheet Tab Bar" context menu to the "Navigators" context menu in
"Sheets" section
-Allow user to be able to drag and drop sheets to rearrange/change their order.
CTRL+Drag would create a duplicate of sheet
-Ability to rename sheets
This would use sheet rename shortcut, so this would already work
Would also add ALT+LMB = inline rename
To match this functionality from Sheet tab bar
-Ability to delete sheets
This would use delete sheet shortcut, so this would work already
-Ability to select more then one sheet/tab at a time, allowing user to perform
actions to multiple sheets at the same time.
Such as delete, drag & drop move, etc.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
BONUS SUGGESTIONS
-This one is probably not likely to be added but
Allow the "Sheets" section to show the tab colors used by "Sheet Tab Bar". The
color bars would extend the entire width of the "Navigator" pane.
If this is done then would also probably have to mimic the cursor/selection
used in the "Sheet Tab Bar"
-CTRL+MSW to zoom in and increase font size of this list text
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Most of these suggestions would be offered as settings.
(See SETTINGS DIALOG section below for more details)

Additional Info:
SETTINGS DIALOG
I have many "Navigator" suggestions
Because there may be some users who prefer to keep current behaviors, I am
suggesting to make this a setting.
Which is why I am also suggesting adding a button in the "Navigator" toolbar
(with a gear icon), which would open up a setting dialog that would contain
settings for the "Navigator" sidebar.
(Because you are not allowed to edit posts)
As I make similar suggestion posts, I will link them in replies below if anyone
is interested.
