            Bug ID: 172315
Summary: Global UI/UX Modernization Request: Icon Legibility,
Contrast, and Professional Visual Standards across the
                    LibreOffice Suite
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.8.0.0 alpha0+ master
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
As a committed advocate of digital sovereignty and Free and Open Source
Software, I am deeply concerned by the current state of the User Interface and
User Experience across the entire LibreOffice Suite. This is a global issue
affecting all components (including Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, etc.), which
is currently hindering professional productivity. The current UI design suffers
from significant usability issues that fall short of modern standards.

Icon Legibility and Contrast: Current icons, particularly within dark-themed
environments, lack sufficient contrast and crispness globally across the suite.
Text labels are often indistinguishable or visually cluttered, creating "visual
noise" that forces the user to spend excessive cognitive effort identifying
tools.

UI/UX Consistency: The interface feels fragmented across the different
applications. It lacks the visual coherence required for a seamless
professional workflow.

Professional Parity: Open-source software should exceed proprietary standards.
There is an urgent need for design excellence—high-quality, scalable vector
icons, refined color palettes, and intuitive toolbar grouping—that rivals the
cleanest interfaces currently available in the market.

My goal is for LibreOffice to be the industry leader in both power and design.
I urge the team to treat UI/UX design with the same priority as core
functionality across all modules.

Steps to Reproduce:
Steps to Reproduce:

Launch LibreOffice Calc on a Linux environment (specifically CachyOS) utilizing
a system-wide Dark Theme.

Navigate across the various toolbars and tabs (Home, Insert, Layout, Data,
Review, View).

Observe the contrast ratio between the icon sets/labels and the background.

Attempt to identify specific tools quickly in a professional workflow setting.

Actual Results:
Icons and text labels appear cluttered, low-contrast, and aesthetically
inconsistent, making it difficult to navigate tools efficiently and causing
unnecessary eye strain.

Expected Results:
A high-fidelity, modern UI featuring high-contrast, distinct vector icons that
are perfectly legible regardless of the active system theme. The interface
should offer intuitive, logically grouped toolbars and a polished, professional
design identity that meets or exceeds current industry leaders.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Operating System: CachyOS (Arch-based Linux).
Environment: Dark Mode enabled.
I am fully invested in the success of this project and believe that achieving
visual parity is essential for user adoption and retention. Design is a
functional necessity, not an aesthetic luxury
