Zip contains an example screenshot and an ODT with the problem
I haven't tested how many different kinds of printers this bug affects, but it
definitely applies to all of the old HP 'workhorse' laser printers at my work.
It DOES NOT affect exporting to PDF or any PDF/XPS psuedo-printers. The key
problem appears to arise when two columns are added to a landscape document.
I've attached a screenshot to demonstrate the printing problem. To reproduce:
1) Create a new letter-size (i.e.the default) document with two columns of text
in landscape. (I typically enter the page-style dialog by double-clicking
"Default" in the Writer status bar)
2) Print this document with a business-class (older) laser printer.
3) If you're not careful, the print preview shows you that the page is not
oriented properly. To get the preview (and print) correct, you must enter the
printer 'Properties' and change both the "Original size" and "Printout paper
size" dialogs to say Letter size paper -- and get these settings to stick (i.e.
check this by repeating the 'Properties' dialog.
I cannot figure out what consistently makes the two printer settings "stick",
but I usually have to adjust it several times.
