The reason seems to be that Diacritic-sensitive is active by default and
therefore the program thinks the options don't need to be shown as expanded.

Searching Bugzilla for find expand etc. I did not find any open or closed
reports where the topic of remembering the expanded state would have been
discussed.

Changing the behaviour per the request would remove the signal to the user that
there are non-default options active. It doesn't seem like an easy decision.
