            Bug ID: 172518
Summary: Infinite Help Windows Automatically Being Opened In
                    Browser
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.2.4.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

I am new to using Linux, and I have been using Zorin OS 18.1 on a 14 year old
Asus Gaming computer. The hardware meets the minimum requirements.

I have been using LibreWriter on this computer with no problems for a couple of
months. A few days ago I noticed there was an update in the software store,
and it said this update had become available about two weeks ago. I updated
LibreOffice. I opened a specific LibreWriter document from the desktop, and a
dialogue box popped up stating something about the "Help" function. (The
offline help package did not come installed with this update.) I failed to
record what it said in detail. I clicked whichever button made it disappear
and continued to the document I had opened. Shortly thereafter I clicked on
the document and start typing, and out of nowhere a new tab for the LibreOffice
Help page was opened in LibreWolf which I already had open. I went back to my
document and tried to proceed, and then a few more help page tabs were opened.
I closed the browser and reopened it, and it continued to do this, and could
not get out of this loop. They just kept automatically opening, and finally
they started opening continuously and would not stop.

The F1 key wasn't stuck, and I tried various solutions I found online, but none
of them worked. I eventually uninstalled LibreOffice then reinstalled it. I
went to tools-->options-->LibreOffice-->Advanced. I clicked the "Open Advanced
Configuration" button, searched the word "help", and scrolled to
org.openoffice.Office.Common. There were eight "Help" headings listed directly
below this. All of these I marked to "false", including all StartCenter
options.

I restarted the computer, the help dialogue box didn't pop up, but the issue
still continued. I then tried installing the Offline Help pack GB, but there
was an unmet dependency. However, during this same session I didn't have any
more problems with the help windows being opened up. I thought I had come up
with a sloppy, but effective fix.

After shutting the computer down (Zorin OS automatically did something it
normally does not do on shutdown, possibly trying to fix something I had messed
up) I started my computer this morning and opened LibreWriter and LibreWolf as
usual. The help dialogue box again did not pop up, but the issues returned.
It was only a matter of a few clicks on the document, and the help windows were
opening in the browser again. I looked at the "Open Advanced Configuration"
section again, and all my edits were still "false". So I then edited the
"Help-->Locale" line and deleted the URL.

So far this morning after deleting the URL the issue hasn't occurred again.

LibreOffice was working flawlessly on my computer prior to the update.
