This is a bug forwarded from a Simplified Chinese chat group.
When pasting Chinese text from other applications into LO Calc, usually the
text import dialog is involved. Multiple users say that they occasionally see
garbled text in the preview area of the "Field" section of the dialog. It
doesn't affect the result of pasting, as the pasted text in the cells are still
correct.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. From an application other than LibreOffice (web browser, Windows notepad,
etc.), copy the following example Chinese text (without the quotation marks):

2. Paste it in Calc and make sure to paste as unformatted text (usually Ctrl+V
will do, but can be enforced by selecting Edit > Paste Special > Paste
Unformatted Text).
3. The "Text Import" dialog should open. In the preview area at the bottom, see
the garbled text as if the text encoding is wrong, as shown by the attached
screenshot.
Expected Result:
Legible Chinese text as copied in the preview.
Actual Result:
Garbled text in the preview.
Notes:
1. Not all Chinese text trigger this bug. The example text is provided by one
of the user reporting the problem, and it reliably triggers the bug for
everyone.
2. Multiple users reproduce this bug on both Linux and Windows, so setting the
"OS" field as "All".
3. Adding random English characters in front of the Chinese text, such as
"""
aa第一季《凡人修仙传：风起天南》 2020年7月25日
aa特别篇《燕家堡之战》 2021年1月31日
"""
no longer triggers the bug.
