In that case "another style" will be the "parent style".

You can create a character style with no inheritance ("inherit from none").

Inheritance is not mandatory. So "another style" includes inheritance as an
option.

Yes but we cannot go back to style basics on such Help pages. Users must have a
minimum understanding of the style formatting and inheritance concept.
