I have not tested the specific case, nor whether the result is really a bug (or
just one of the several cases in which DATEDIF() returns a value that does not
match user's expectations but it is not a bug anyway).

DATEDIF() is an old function. It might need improvements in documentation and
explanations about cases in which its result does not match user's
expectations. Unless there is a case in which Calc's DATEDIF() returns a
different result than in other spreadsheet tools, there is no reason to modify
the function itself.

Some of the known issues regarding DATEDIF() can be read at the MS support page
for the function, among others, and even then there are still some subtle
details that might escape some readers.
