While that may do the trick in my two-row case, now I have a 1000 rows; so I
have to check every one manually and decide whether to collapse.

Also, if I add another column, where the col_a categories having uniformity are
different - your suggestion breaks down.

But I will agree that with your suggestion, this ability becomes less critical.
