And space is relevant for some users while others request more functions in the tab bar (such as the recently discussed bug 171207). OTOH, I do not like the tabs overflow navigation, which is in fact the left-most set of buttons. It becomes active if the number of tabs exceed the available space. But it looks like an ordinary navigation. We could hide these buttons until the condition is met - and only the plus (and/or a hamburger menu remains). In general we should avoid hidden features and my take is -1.
