hi,
I'm sure that many would appreciate and happily use a mouse-mode:
"autohide mouse pointer".
This could get a menu item in Edit, above the "Direct Cursor Mode".

Why it would be great?
The mouse pointer is a primitive thing when you're writing. It is a great tool,
but it's only tool, and shouldn't be left there once it was used. I mean,
imagine a dentist leaving a tool in your mouth :)
Okay, I admit, people could be startled: where the hell did my mouse pointer
go?? :) But they were shocked to see a man with an umbrella too, for the first
time..
How it could work?
When you budge it, it will be visible. It could also be set to appear
regularly, every once in a while, like 1 minute, for a short time, like 0.6
second.
Or it could just become less black/white, semi-transparent, losing a little bit
of contrast against the background.
All this could be set in the options.
UX-wise
Let me also note, while the direct cursor mode is dumb, made for LIU (less
intelligent users), the mouse pointer autohide could be the favorite of the
complementary group :) I mean, it would be an enhancement, a great one, making
the UX more intuitive, and smoother.
