In my case, the update starts automatically when LibreOffice is launched and can take several minutes. This happens precisely when I open the application because I need to use it. A more user-respecting behaviour would be: 1. check automatically whether an update is available; 2. inform the user about it; 3. ask whether the update should be installed now or postponed. For example: “An update is ready to be installed. LibreOffice will be unavailable for a few minutes.” Buttons: * Update now * Remind me later The current behaviour leaves the user unable to access the application, without having chosen the timing of the operation. Even with a clearer description of what is being updated, that would remain disruptive.
