            Bug ID: 172908
Summary: Add a simple smart paste option
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

(I can't believe it's taken me decades to think of asking for this, considering
it irks me every time I paste plain text!)

When I paste text from another application, especially plain ASCII text from
simple editors, I'd love an option to paste it in so it's treated exactly as if
I was typing it in. I.e. so that " gets turned into either an open or close
double quote; a single quote ' gets turned into true apostrophes or open/close
quotes as normal; ... turns into an ellipsis, -- turns into an endash, etc.
I.e. follow the Autocorrect replacements I have defined.

Maybe name it "Paste as if typed" or "Paste as manually typed"?

Having to go through and correct these manually is tedious (and doing it with
regexps is tricky: the expressions are long and have to be done in a careful
sequence).

It would also be another way to make Writer superior to Word. (I noticed it
when reviewing another author's work, and she admitted she'd pasted a section
she'd typed on her phone into her Word manuscript.)

Thanks for considering this suggestion.
