As an example I use LibreOffice Base to connect to an ODBC database to which I only have read access, and using this I create various reports. However, from time to time I get from others or need myself to create a table from other information "like attendees of a seminar" or "a survey" which I can then use in a query combined with tables from the ODBC database.
