Bug ID: 173090
Summary: Print dialog fails to automatically recognize mixed
page styles (A3/A4) for specific print ranges.
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.8.0.0 alpha0+ master
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
In LibreOffice 26.8, the print dialog no longer automatically recognizes and
adjusts to mixed page formats (e.g., A3 and A4) within the same document when a
specific print range is selected. The "Paper Size" option in the "Page Layout"
section of the print dialog locks onto a single format and ignores the actual
Page Styles defined in the document. This forces the user to manually change
the paper size for every print job, whereas in version 26.4, this process was
fully automatic.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a 4-page Writer document.
2.Format pages 1 and 2 as A3 using Page Styles and manual breaks.
3.Format pages 3 and 4 as A4 using Page Styles.
4.Open the Print dialog (Ctrl+P).
5. In the "Range and Copies" section, select pages 3-4 to print.
6. Observe the print preview and the "Paper Size" dropdown in the "Page Layout"
section.
Actual Results:
The print preview still shows the A3 format. The "Paper Size" dropdown forces a
specific size (e.g., A4 or A3) instead of automatically adapting to the
selected pages. The user must manually expand the list and adjust the size or
select "Default" to force the correct behavior.
Expected Results:
Just like in LibreOffice 26.4, the print preview and the printer output should
automatically detect that pages 3-4 are formatted as A4 and send the correct
tray/size instructions to the printer, without any manual intervention in the
"Page Layout" section.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
This regression severely disrupts professional workflows, particularly in
generating surveying, geodetic, and technical documentation ("operaty
geodezyjne"). Such documents heavily rely on batch-printing large field maps
(A3) seamlessly mixed with standard administrative protocols (A4). The loss of
automated tray/size switching turns a single-click print job into a tedious,
manual, and error-prone process.
