Bug ID: 173138
Summary: CALC: Formula is automatically forced to lowercase
when referencing a non-existent sheet name
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 24.2.7.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
ERRONEOUS BEHAVIOR:
When editing or entering a formula that references a sheet that does not exist
yet, LibreOffice Calc forces the entire formula string into lowercase text upon
pressing Enter or Tab. This ruins user-intended capitalization and requires
manual correction after the referenced sheet is finally created.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a new spreadsheet document in Calc.
2.In cell A1, enter a formula referencing a non-existent sheet with specific
capitalization, for example:
=$'LEA Aug Invoice'.$A$19
3.Press Enter or Tab to confirm the edit.
Actual Results:
The formula string is automatically transformed entirely into lowercase
characters:
=$'lea aug invoice'.$a$19
Expected Results:
Calc should preserve the original user-input capitalization exactly as typed,
or throw a standard #REF! error while keeping the original string intact.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Creating the target sheet prior to typing the formula prevents this behavior,
proving that the lowercase transformation is triggered strictly by the failure
to validate the referenced sheet name during input processing.
