You do not understand the relevance regarding inter-compatibility between spreadsheet tools. In the area of Functions, you have no idea of how many difficulties an incompatibility brings, even when someone thinks that some particular syntax, or Function's argument, or format, or whatever, is better than what other spreadsheet tools support. Minor incompatibilities in Functions have derived in years of discussions on how to improve the situation in future ODF standards, users posting questions everywhere, bug reports of all sorts... One example, of many more, would be how to deal with date-time and duration values, rounding differences, close-to-midnight values... Or when a function in Calc has different constraints and/or requirements and/or arguments than in other spreadsheet tools. Such discussions have taken years, with multiple experienced people from different organizations involved, not only from TDF. Knowingly introducing incompatibilities in Functions is not a plus. If Ben wants to have a different function, and to make it available for others to use, then an extension is an adequate method (and there are examples of such). Standard Calc should be as compatible as possible regarding Functions. Any-and-every known incompatibility should rather be solved ASAP, especially before users start complaining that one version of Calc works in one way that is different than other version of Calc, or when sharing workbooks that need to be used by other spreadsheet tools – a common situation that not even the author of the spreadsheet might have control about. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
