            Bug ID: 173300
Summary: Writer Find Bar: show current match number and total
                    matches
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.2.5.2 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: Windows (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
In LibreOffice Writer, when a search is performed using the Find Bar and Find
All is selected, the Find Bar displays the total number of matches found.

It would be useful if the Find Bar also displayed the position of the currently
selected match within the total number of matches.

For example, if the search finds 8 matches, the Find Bar could display:

1 of 8

2 of 8

3 of 8

etc., as the user moves between matches using Find Next or Find Previous.

Currently, the Find Bar can indicate that there are 8 results, but it does not
indicate which result the user is currently viewing.

This would be particularly useful when searching through a long document,
because the user could immediately see both the total number of matches and
their current position in the sequence.

Expected behavior:

After Find All finds 8 matches, navigating through the results should provide
an indication such as 1 of 8, 2 of 8, 3 of 8, etc.

This is a feature request rather than a regression.

NOTE: I checked Bug 163100. My request is specifically for a
*current-match/total-match counter*.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. See Description above.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
See Description above.

Expected Results:
See Description above.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No
