In 6.2, SaveThumbnail was added to settings.xml thanks to bug 87995 comment 27. At least this is true for ODT. For MS Formats (see bug 173164) it would need to be gleaned from whether the thumbnail existed at import time. > The precedence of the general setting and the checkbox in the file property > is not clear. That's pretty minor. I think in general it is pretty obvious that hidden expert settings override everything else. But sure - we could disable the checkbox if GenerateThumbnail is turned off.
