            Bug ID: 173499
Summary: When primary selection is being watched (by a
clipboard manager), it stops updating after first
                    selection
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.2.6.3 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Created attachment 208469

a patch hopefully solving the issue

This is on Wayland and on the GTK3 backend (I run GDK_BACKEND=wayland
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 libreoffice --writer ).

1. run in terminal:
wl-paste --primary --watch sh -c 'printf "WATCH: "; cat; echo'
(this simulates habing a clipboard manager, it behaves the same with Klipper on
KDE)

2. launch Libre office Writer and select a word.

3. Paste it with middle click to another application (this is important, it
must not be Libre office window).

4. Extend the selection (you can actually do it even when you released the
mouse button when you start grabbing just before the end of the selection, but
easier is just use shift + right arrow)

5. Paste with middle click to another application.

What happens:
Text from step 2 gets pasted, not from step 5.

Attaching un untested patch written by Claude Code. I do not really feel like
building Libre office to test it, but I guess it should give an idea about
where there is a problem. It seems like pasting to different appalication
changes the ownership of the clipboard and that is the whole problem.
