We discussed the topic in the design meeting.

Excel is a great prototype in this case: dynamic arrays (DA) receive a faint
border on focus, if the DA area is spilt it appears as dotted line. The range
of the DA can be directly formatted (but not as table) and keeps the formatting
whether #SPILL or not.

To summarize: if a cell is focused that is part of the DA, the range should
receive a temporary formatting. We suggest a fine-dashed line with 1pt
thickness, perhaps dotted in case of a SPILL issue.
