            Bug ID: 68018
          Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: EDITING: Find-and-replace won't find, or else finds
                    too much

    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux (All)
          Reporter: [email protected]
          Hardware: Other
        Whiteboard: BSA
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
           Version: 4.1.0.4 release
         Component: Writer
           Product: LibreOffice

A sample document that I created, in ODF, to test the Find-and-Replace
behavior. I noticed the same bad behavior.

Problem description:

The find-and-replace function is totally broken. When I specify a small search
key of one or two characters, it "finds" half the document at random, and most
of the time the matches are NOT valid. Replacement makes hash of the document.

When I specify a long search key, it won't find it at all--even when I know
it's present.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open or create a document in Writer.
2. Click "Find" or "Find and Replace"
3. Specify a search key and, where applicable, a replacement.
4. Ask it to find (or replace) the search key.

Current behavior:
For small search keys, it "finds" everything, 99 percent plus of which is NOT a
match.

For larger search keys (typically multi-word phrases): it doesn't find it at
all, even when I can see that it is present.

Expected behavior:
Should find the search key and ONLY the search key.

Operating System: Fedora
Version: 4.1.0.4 release
