--- Comment #2 from Jerry <[email protected]> ---
The problem is that LO Writer no longer shows the entire deletion.

Here is a small section of a manuscript I recently edited before the change.

Before:

"Happily, the delegates who voted in favour were also the ones with significant
naval forces."

Now after I replaced "the delegates who voted in favour" with "they".

After:

"Happily, they were also the ones with significant naval forces."

What I was unable to copy and paste was the entire deleted text that LO Writer
displayed in the left margin. The entire deleted text shown in blue was: "the
dele..." with a strike through. That's all it showed and clicking on it did not
display any additional information. Also if I made a second change in the same
line, only the inserted text (in red) would show, it would not show the deleted
text at all. The author, reviewing my edited text would not know, without
having to search a second document (the original manuscript sent to me to edit)
that I had changed what he wanted to convey. This change to the editing
function has made literary editing much more difficult. And I see no purpose
for LO to have made this change [not showing the deleted text in place with a
strike through] in the first place.

I am running LibreOffice with a Linux Mint operating system.
