Bug ID: 173722
Summary: Calc and Writer freeze when saving with the native
Windows file dialog (26.8, Windows 11)
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.8.0.3 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
After upgrading to LibreOffice 26.8, both Calc and Writer hang (become
unresponsive) when I try to save a document using the native Windows
Save dialog. The same workflow worked without problems in my previous
version [e.g. 26.2.x]. Since the problem affects more than one module,
it seems to be a general issue with the native file dialog rather than
a Calc- or Writer-specific bug.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice Calc or Writer.
2. Create or edit a document (in Calc, I pasted a table copied from an
email, approx. 774 rows x 7 columns, plain text data).
3. Press Ctrl+S (or File > Save).
Actual Results:
The application freezes and stops responding. It has to be closed
from Task Manager.
Expected Results:
The Save dialog opens and the document is saved normally.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
Enabling Tools > Options > LibreOffice > General > "Use LibreOffice dialogs"
fixes the problem in both Calc and Writer. With LibreOffice's own dialogs,
saving works normally. This suggests the issue is related to the native
Windows file dialog.
What I already tried (did not help):
- Pasting as unformatted text (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+V) and saving as .ods
- Restarting in Safe Mode
- Resetting the user profile (renaming %APPDATA%\LibreOffice\4\user)
Environment:
OS: Windows 11 Pro [version/build, e.g. 24H2]
LibreOffice version info:
Version: 26.8.0.3 (X86_64)
Build ID: bce0998afefdbc355585ca324285661a2170ba77

VCL: win
Locale: tr-TR (tr_TR); UI: tr-TR

Previous working version: [e.g. 26.2.x]
